Future School

In the future, the school will be shifted from teachers center to learner center. To make the school suitable for this type of learning, the school system should be reform. The whole system should be reform: teachers, students should be prepared, environment and so on.
To apply this type of learning in Omani school, it should be gradual shift( step by step) not sharp change. Because the whole school system is not design for this type of learning.
This type of learning has advantages and disadvantages as teachers center, so it is better to balance between them.
Imagine how do you want the future school to be? Only teachers who manage e-learning course will be in the school? Or students with their teachers try o learn from eniverment? Now it is our time to make brain storming in how we apply learners center with e-learning in Omani School.

Netiquette

There are some netiqutte e-learner should consider when they collaborate in e-learning:

1. Be polite. When you read a post that you don’t like, you can ignore it.

2. Think before you post. You wrote something you are very proud of, this is fine. But try to give it one more thought before launching it on the net.

3. Take care at your spelling. This is very easy to do these days, almost every text processor comes with a spell checker included.

Reflection in ICOT

From the workshop that is done on 2/3/2008 and related to International Conference on Distant Education, I learn that you should be patient When you being assigned to do any things. Also, I learn to improve your self, you should participate in any activities especially that related to what you would like to improve (Try and try and never stop).

I learn about smart whiteboard that make the class interactive through the facilities that this board has. It provide flexibility, clarity and cleanness that the traditional board lake. You can through this board ,edit, write, color text to fit students need like: you can enlarge the text to be seen by all students. This type of board save a lot of space in the classroom and use for multipurpose. It can be used as computer, LCD projector, overhead and as traditional board, recorder and so on.

Reflection

Every one has their own learning style that is help them to learn and that learners prefer.
I learn by summarize what is written in the book by making questions for each chapter. Then, I read what I have summarize once or two. So I can remember what I have wrote. Also, I make diagram for content that has relationship like cause-result. Moreover, I learn by telling other what I have read. Also, if there is points, I divide the points to my sisters and brothers and I tell them to repeat the point I give them. Moreover, some time I try to use concepts map. I think when learn know their own learning style, it will help them to focus more to improve their learning and maybe they try to create new learning style.

Can I become an e-learner? What kinds of skills I need?

  Yes I can become an e-learner.
  As an e-learners I need for this competencies:

1. 
   computer skills that will help me in collaborate with other, search resources and navigate through the internet.
2. 
   Collaboration is an important competencies because it make life to the learning and it make easy communication with classmates and instructor. Also, it help the learners to know more about the assignments and discuss it among the learners.
3. 
   E-learner should be responsible for their own learning, no one will force it to study, search, and do the their assignments.
4. 
   They should be aware of their own learning style and they should have skills in how to manage their time.
5. 
   The important things that e-learners should have is to be patient toward their learning.
6. 
   E-learners should have a good idea about their self and do not overestimate or underestimate.
7. 
   E-learners should be interested and motivated to learn online.
8. 
   Also, they should have reading skills to help them reading quickly and summarize the important point. Self-awareness about their own-learning, responsibility and thinking.

Cheating

As we discuses cheating in the class, I think it is a big problems that must be searched to know why the students cheating. Also, if this students continue their cheating, how can they develop their thinking. I suggest that those students must not be in education because the teachers are the example for the students. Then if they are cheating, how you will expect the students will be.

E-learning at SQU

SQU applied mixed e-learning. The example of this is study skills course that is offered as an elective course for first year students to help them developing their study skills. I this semester(spring, 2008), SQU offer online course at collage of science. This course is learned through audio and video conferencing. Also, SQU has CET that provide assistance for all faculty members and students. I hope that Oman goes more and more in e-learning but make balance between this changes and make students responsible to this changes and consistent in their values as an Omani and as a Moslem. And this by make qualified and expertise teachers especially for educating children.

Slow Internet Connection in Oman

Oman tries its best to make Omani people connected with other people over the world. But according to the technology change, the speed of internet coneection in Oman is slow compared to other country.
At this time, Oman internet slow connections affects someof my works. For examlpe: it take alots of time to dowloand some files from the internet. Also, it makes it difficult to submit the assgement using internet. So it takes me time to go and print the assemgents and then go to give the doctor. It makes the participation in e-learning course difficult. Also, the browser displies the internet page slowly, so it take me more time to search about any information. Also, setting for a long time to search about any informationI causes frustration and tiredness . More over, I can not read the e-mail message, so I do not know what has been sent.

Oman Intrernet Slow Connection
